Abstract This paper analyzes theoretically the properties of Turbo codes and the effects of the interleaver. Some elements for devising good interleaver are pointed out in this paper. Compared with some traditional algorithms, a low-complexity method based on three-Dimensional (3-D) matrix is proposed. The simulation results demonstrate its good performance.
