Abstract The leakage of Channel Impulse Response (CIR) in the time domain channel estimation for the practical OFDM systems is analyzed. A novel channel estimation algorithm in the time domain is proposed for OFDM. The frequency domain windowing is used to reduce the leakage of CIR. The noise of CIR is direct cut according to a threshold. Comparison has been done between the proposed algorithm and the existing time domain channel estimation algorithms in the non-sample-spaced multipath fading channel. Simulation results show the decreasing of channel estimation MSE and the improvement of BER performance by the proposed algorithm.
