The Proof of the Trace Criterion for Space-Time Trellis Codes in Frequency-Selective Fading Channels |

Abstract When the product of the numbers of transmit and receive antennas is large, the design criterion for space-time trellis codes is the trace criterion. This criterion is originally designed for flat fading channels only. In this paper, it is proved that the trace criterion also can be used in frequency-selective fading channels. The simulation results show that the good codes according to the trace criterion have better performance than other codes, when the channel fading is frequency-selective.
