Abstract In future mobile system some independent handsets can obtain the benefits of cooperative diversity by the way of cooperative transmission. At the same time, information exchange error will degrade the performance of cooperative transmission. Considering Rayleigh fading channel and the cooperative transmit scheme based on STBC, the effect of information exchange error on cooperative diversity is researched. Finally, the theory analysis and simulation results show that when the SNR is high information exchange error becomes the main factor that degrades the reception performance, if the number of cooperative handsets is more than two, increasing the number of reception antennas can improve the reception performance boundary in some degree.
