Abstract The shielding effectiveness of a rectangular enclosure perforated with a slot is analyzed and the influences of the slot length on the magnitude and frequency of the lowest mode stimulated by the slot are given. Joint time-frequency analysis is also applied to explore the time domain waveform of every frequency component at observation point. The influence of the slot length to the time domain characteristics of different resonant mode is also obtained.
