Abstract This paper proposes a robust pilot-assisted channel estimation method for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM) signals in Rayleigh fading. The method can be used in rectangular pilot-assisted geometry, which is more efficient than the comb pilot-assisted geometry. Comparing with the Linear Minimum Mean Square Error (LMMSE) channel estimation method, the method is simple and need not know the channel correlation and signal-to-noise (SNR). The performance is presented in terms of bit-error rate(BER) for a system using QPSK and 16QAM in fading channel.
