Abstract A novel method of?locating and quantifying the color errors introduced by subpixel addressing technology in color matrix displays is proposed. According to the spatial color blending of human visions, the paper indicates that the measurement of color errors should be performed within multi-scale region of color blending. Taking rectangular arrangement of subpixels as an example, the shape and size of the multi-scale blending region is designed base on the structure basis of lattice theory, and color errors’ locating and quantifying is achieved. Analysis and experiments show that the adaptive method of eliminating color errors based on the multi-scale blending region can keep more original image details while weaken color errors efficiently.
