Abstract In this paper, a novel fusion based coding scheme of multi-view image is proposed. At the encoder, different sources of images are decomposed into IMFs (Intrinsic Mode Factions) and residue using CEMD (Complex Empirical Mode Decomposition). The IMFs and residue are fused respectively, and the fusion results are compressed and encoded based on EMD. At the decoder, the source images can be reconstructed by disassembling the fusion image. Experimental results show, without reducing quality, the proposed scheme can provide better compression ratio than the previous ones, which open doors for future applications.
