Abstract The sounding depth is one of the most important parameter of GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar), how to expand detectable range under a given resolution is a concern issue in the field of GPR all over the world. The application of Pseudo Random Binary Sequence (PRBS) to GPR is studied in this paper. The advantages of PRBS and the demands of GPR are analyzed. A GPR experiment system adopting m-sequence is described. Some experimental data of this system and the theoretical analysis are presented. The experiments results are very coincide with theoretical analysis. This PRBS GPR can achieve deeper detectable range than Impulse GPR under the same parameters is proved with the result of analysis and experiment, and it can meet the demands of the archaeology and geology’s deep sounding.
