Abstract The access delay of Enhanced Distributed Coordination Function (EDCF) in WLAN under error-prone channel is studied. Utilizing the Markov chain model, a model for analyzing the access delay of different priority traffic under error-prone channel is proposed, and the accuracy of the model is verified with simulation. Simulation results show that IEEE 802.11 EDCF meets the Quality of Service (QoS) of different applications by setting different accessing parameters.
