Abstract A simple model is used to describle the fractional phase-locking of a relaxation oscillator by periodically applied impulses. For any definite fraction p/q, analytic expressions are derived for the phase-locking region in the parameter space. Experimental results for a bidirectional negative resistance transistor (BNRT) relaxation oscillator agree with the computed ones.
