Abstract Since standard Capon beamformer is susceptible to the steering vector mismatches of the Signal Of Interest(SOI), robust Capon beamforming based on steering vector error uncertainty set is investigated. In the cases that the practical steering vector belongs to a spherical uncertainty set, an approximate closed-form solution to the weight vector is derived with a series of approximate deductions. With the solution, the approximate expressions of the target’s power estimation and the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio are presented for analysis evaluation, which provides insights into the influence factors on performace. The simulation results demonstrate the reasonability of the analysis in this paper.
