Abstract As an important aspect of partial differential equation solutions of open-region electromagnetic field problems, the concept and algorithm of guided-wave global numerical boundary conditions are presented. Emphasis is placed on the two-dimensional guided-wave scattering and radiation analysis in the waveguides with plate-conducting boundaries. This analysis method can be readily expanded to cover many other guided-wave systems, leading to a new theoretical approach to the guide-horn like radiator analysis.
