Abstract Spinning-rate estimate is the base of rapidly spinning target imaging. A new spinning-rate estimating method is proposed in this paper. Base on the characteristic of rapidly spinning target in the range-time image, a primary estimate using Fourier transform is put forward. And it is refined in specified range by calculating the entropy of the whole image, which is independent of single scatter point. Simulations with synthetic data demonstrate the performance of the new method. The results confirm its effectiveness.
