Abstract Channel estimation for MIMO-OFDM systems is investigated, and a chain weighted averaging LS channel estimation algorithm is proposed. Based on the FDM circular pilot sequence, the new algorithm obtains a temporal channel estimation using LS algorithm, and improves the estimation performance by weighted averaging. The circular pilot structure and weighted averaging effectively decreases the effect of the carrier edges on the system’s performance. Furthermore, avoiding the inversion of a large matrix, the new algorithm can be easily realized.
