Abstract In this paper, a downlink precoding scheme is proposed for the Quasi-orthogonal Space Time Block Coded Multi-User MIMO (QSTBC-MU-MIMO) system. Based on the SLNR (Signal-to-Leakage-Noise Ratio) maximization, this scheme minimizes the co-channel interference more efficiently by using an iterative optimization approach. It is robust to the number of users in the system. Furthermore, the influence of noise is taken into account, and thus a simple solution of the optimization problem can be achieved by choosing the complex scalars properly. Simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
