Abstract For both the periodic case and aperiodic case, the relations between the run numbers of a binary sequence and autocorrelation, cross-correlation functions of sequences are investigated.And the correlation functions expressed by the runs of a binary sequence, which are refered to as RCF,are derived in this paper.
