Abstract In this paper, a progressive HARQ scheme based on degree distribution for irregular LDPC codes is proposed. The proposed scheme considers Unequal Error Protection (UEP) of irregular LDPC codes as well as degree distribution while choosing some bits for retransmission. Compared with initial Degree Distribution Based HARQ (DDB-HARQ) scheme, this scheme improves system performance such as bit error rate and throughput.
