Abstract This paper proposes an approach for wide swath imaging with Multiple-Input Multiple-Output Synthetic Aperture Radar (MIMO-SAR) system. In the system the Discrete Frequency Coding Waveform (DFCW) is applied to obtain high range resolution; and low PRF is adopted to achieve unambiguous wide swath, however, a reduction of the PRF raises Doppler ambiguities. The spatial filter is used to resolve the Doppler ambiguities. As the MIMO-SAR system provides more degrees of freedom than the channel number, the filter is successfully capable of resolving the Doppler ambiguities whose times are more than the channel number. Simulation result confirms the validity of the proposed method.
