Abstract In this paper, multi-user diversity in the downlink channel of multi-user MIMO system is investigated and two multi-user scheduling algorithms are proposed which are based on the criteria of maximum system capacity. A factor based on inner products of channel vectors of relative users is used and complexity of scheduling procedure is greatly reduced. Simulation results are presented that multi-user scheduling methods enlarge system average capacity, and with the increase of the number of active users, multi-user scheduling gain grows gradually.
