Abstract The induced pulse current by EMP on cable that is connected to electric system threatens seriously the system. In this paper, the influence of conductivity and permittivity of plane ground on this current is calculated by FDTD method. The relationship between induced current and cable position above the earth is obtained, and the results are compared with the free-space case.
