Abstract An information-theoretical model for subliminal channel is proposed. The task of distinguishing between an innocent signature r and that containing a subliminal message is interpreted as a hypothesis testing problem. The security of the channel is quantified in terms of the relative entropy. The security formula of the subliminal channels is deduced with hypothesis testing, and the perfectly secure conditions is given.
