Abstract Based on an analysis of the principle SISAR shadow imaging, the effect on target shadow image due to nonconstant velocity rotation relative to the target is first examined, and a compensation method is also presented. In addition, the effect on target shadow image due to target motion parameters is described. Eventually, a target recognition approach on the basis of the invariable parameters obtained is proposed. The computer simulations show the efficiency of the method.
