Abstract This paper puts forward a new multilevel chaotic sequence and a multifunction circuit using three-cell CNN chaos, combining the characteristic of CNN with that of the Spread Spectrum System (SSS). It also proposes a scheme of generating the Multilevel Chaotic Sequence (MCS) and analyzes its properties. Simulation results show that this kind of sequence performs quite well, which is suitable for future large-capacity SSS.
