Abstract EMD (Empirical Mode Decomposition) method is a self-adaptive signal decomposition approach. On the basis of the characteristics of the gear fault vibration signals, EMD is applied to gear fault diagnosis. The result of the application indicates that the characteristics of gear fault vibration signals can be extracted by EMD method efficiently.
