Abstract This paper presents a novel round robin based fully distributed fair queuing algorithm for IEEE 802.11 WLANs. The proposed algorithm in this paper achieves fair scheduling in a distributed environment by doing a small modification to the distributed coordination function of the IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol. Simulation results show this algorithm is effective.
