Abstract In this paper, A kind of shared restoration mechanism of optical network based on signaling control is discussed in detail, and the implementation scheme using the exist-ing protocol is presented. It is proved by experimentation that the shared mechanism can increase greatly the resource utility, and decrease efficiently the restoration time. The mech-anism meet the request of the convergence of IP and optical network, could be applied to the ASON for efficient restoration.
