Micro-motion Signature Extraction for Wideband Radar Based on High-order Moment Function

Abstract:The micro-Doppler effect induced by the rotating parts of the target, which provides a new approach for accurate auto radar target recognition, attracts great research attention in recent years. In this paper, taking target with rotating parts for an example, a method for micro-motion signature extraction based on high-order moment function is proposed, which is suitable for the wideband radar. Firstly, the echo induced by the rotating parts is analyzed by multiplying with the conjugate of the reference signal, and its high-order moments are calculated respect to the fast time and the slow time. Then the micro-motion signature is quickly obtained by detecting the peak value of the products of the Fourier transform results of its moments’ imaginary parts with different time delays. A computer simulation is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
