Abstract：A statistical characteristics model of empirical VBR MPEG-I video streams is presented in this paper. Based on fractional Gaussian noise process, an self-similar model approach which models directly both the short-range dependence and long-range dependence empirical autocorrelation structure is studied. According to the simulation result, the improved self-similar process is a better model of VBR video traffic.
