Amplitude and Phase Errors Calibration of the Satellite-Borne DBF Transmitting RF Channel

Abstract:In order to realize the precise multi-beam forming, a calibration method of the amplitude and phase error among RF channels for the transmitting multi-beam array antenna system onboard satellite is proposed. This method is conducted by receiving the sum of the output signal of all RF transmitting channels, including the temporally multiplexed orthogonal codes injected from the base-band, the calibration factors for all the RF transmitting channels can be simultaneously obtained by temporal correlation of the orthogonal codes and the IDFT parallel processing technology. The calibration factors are normalized for avoiding the effects on the nonlinearity components. Computer simulation shows that the beam pattern after calibration is very close to the ideal beam pattern.
